A washer bolt is a thin plate usually disk-shaped, but sometimes square with a hole usually in the middle that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a bolt or nut. Washer bolt are generally made up of metal or plastic. They are also used in rotating actions, as a bearing. Rubber or fiber gaskets which are used in taps, faucets, or valves as seal against water leakage are sometimes referred to casually as washer bolt but while they can look similar washer bolt and gaskets are generally designed for different functions and made differently.
